15th ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE

UNITED TO FIGHTBACK FOR PUBLIC SERVICES

Welcome to PSI’s 15th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference (APRECON), taking place from 8-11 September 2025 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Held once every five years, APRECON is the region’s largest gathering of PSI affiliates who will review our work, exchange strategies and struggles and adopt a new Regional Action Plan.

Public service workers are under attack — from austerity, privatisation, debt burdens, and the unchecked power of global corporations and billionaires. While we keep communities running during crises, our rights, entitlements, and dignity are easily discarded. Across the world, workers are facing unsafe conditions, job cuts, and political repression, all while being told to do more with less.

Asia Pacific is no exception. The nexus between billionaires and conservative and authoritiarian political leaders is pushing the region into multiple crises — climate change, rising inequality, labour migration, and the depletion of essential services.

As public service workers, we are the last line of defence for the public good. We have to draw the line.

It’s time to organise, resist, and fight back — and build solidarity across the region. We need public investment, not corporate control; collective power, not invisibility. We have fought before, and we will continue — with even greater resolve.
