All travelers (with the exception of Indian nationals) to Nepal must be in possession of a passport that is valid for at least six (6) months from the date of arrival and have proof (tickets) of onward or return passage.

All participants (with the exception of Indian nationals) will require a visa. A Tourist Visa is generally accepted for a conference and can usually be obtained in advance or on arrival. However please confirm with the Embassy of Nepal in your country.

Visa On Arrival - You can apply in advance by online (https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/) – or using kiosk machines upon your arrival at the airport.

On Arrival Visa Fee at Entry Points: 30 USD (15 days) – Pay after using the kiosk computers, then proceed to the payment counter before going through the immigration line.

Climate

In September, Kathmandu, Nepal has warm temperatures, and the monsoon rains are beginning to ease. However, the meeting hall is always air conditioned, so you may require a jacket to keep comfortable.

Currency

The official currency of Nepal is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR), however most of the hotels and shops also except foreign currency.

There are banks for currency exchange located in the airport and near the venue. Foreign exchange providers in Nepal, like money changers, may charge a commission on currency transactions. This commission is usually a percentage of the amount being exchanged. Always check the mid-market exchange rate beforehand so you know the real value of your money.

PSI does not provide or cover travel and health insurance for all participants and does not accept responsibility for medical problems or other losses incurred during travel to or from, or during attendance, at APRECON. All participants are strongly advised to take out appropriate travel and health insurance to provide this cover.

In case of problems, please contact PSI Staff at any time, or contact the hotel staff. Participants with chronic health conditions and who are on regular medication should bring along enough to last during the period of conference.
